Which animal are found in the tropical rainforests?

THE TROPICAL RAINFOREST are home to about half of the Earth's animal and plant species. Several mall, tree - dwelling creatures live here. Thousand of different  reptiles  such as snake and lizards, millions of birds and perhaps more than one million different insects.

Which creature changes its color?



It is the chameleon which basically lives on trees. This colorful lizard is know for its ability to change its color. The chameleon changes its color to show its mood for example when it is in a rage, it changed to a barker color. It also changed color to camouflage its self by blending it perfectly with its background.

What is a poison dart frog?



The poison dart frog is considered one of the Earth's most poisonous species. The poison dart frog lives in the rain forests of central America and south America. Local Indians collect the poison by holding the frog over a fire to make it sweat. Then, they scrape the sweat into a jar. If they want their arrows to kill, they dip the tips in the poison jar.

The toco toucan is known for its large colorful beak. It uses its beak to fight rival males and to pick fruit. At time, it also eats small animal

Three frog like the Koki and the poison dart is deadlier than a snake. Their bright colors act as a warning.

The sloth is the world's slowest mammal. It is so sedentary that algae grow on its furry coat.

The toco toucan has a huge bright colored beak which is 23 cm long - longer than its body. It does not overbalance because the beak is full of air. So, it is very light.

'constrictor' snake like the python wraps itself around a victim and squeezes it unit it suffocates and dies.

What is a jaguar?


A jaguar is the largest of South American's big cats. The name jaguar is derived from the Native American word 'jaguar ' meaning 'he who kills with one leap'. Though it looks like a leopards, it is larger. It also has a shorter tail. Its pattern is also a bit different.

Different animals live in the woodlands in the temperate zone in between the tropics and the poles. The leaves scattered underneath the trees teems with small creatures like the worms, millipedes, ants and other insects-all of which attract predators such as spiders, shrews and mice. The trees themselves provide shelter for numerous insects, birds and small mammals.

Why does a woodpecker do?


A woodpecker uses it strong sharp beak to bore into trees to make homes and find insects to eat.it clings to tree trunks, propped up by its stiff tail, and rapidly hammers its long, powerful beak against the trunk. It pulls out the insects with its long tongue. The tip of the tongue is barbed so that the bird can pull out tiny insects from deep inside.

Where do Eurasian badgers live?


Eurasian badgers live in groups called clans. They live inside burrows called setts, which they dig out with their broad and strong forepaws. The setts are made of chambers. They are kept clean.

Are foxes choosy in what they eat?


Foxes eat everything from small animals like voles and rabbits to beetles, worms and berries. They are scavengers too. In recent years foxes have been detected in towns going through dustbins for scraps. They steal chickens from the farms too.

The red fox has a russet coat, large ears, bright amber eyes and big , bushy tail.

Why are foxes related to being 'cunning'?

Foxes are intelligent hunters with a very keen sense smell, sight and hearing. But, they got this tag as they could cleverly elude being captured by hunters.

Fallow deer


Herds of wild fallow deer have lived for ages in the ancient royal forests, like the new forest, where only the king and his courtiers could hunt them.

Where are antlers found?


Antlers are found on the heads of male members of the deer family. Antlers are branches of bone on a deer 's  head. They are used as weapons like horns, antlers are covered in a hairy skin called velvet. They are shed and regrown each year.

What activities occur in the worlds at night?

During the night several small mammals such as the shrews moles squirrels mice weasels stoats ferrets and foxes go hunting. So, do the night flying birds like he night jar, which sleeps camouflaged on the ground by they, and the tawny owl, which treys on small mammal.

                            Which woodland carnivores are the smallest?


Weasels, stoats and polecats. They are fierce despite their small size. They are able to kill animals large than their size like rabbits.

Wood mouse
